The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino (PSB), asked for a public retraction after being called an “obese communist” during the presentation of the program “Good afternoon Brazil” Radio Guaíba, in Rio Grande do Sul, on Tuesday (17). On social media, the minister said the comment was aggressive, prejudiced and criminal.
“I heard that on a radio station in RS they made aggressive, prejudiced and criminal comments against me. I expect retraction. In any case, I advance that I do not envy the squalor of people who need a Penal Code, Code of Ethics and a mirror”, wrote Dino on his social networks.
The minister’s publication was a response to a statement by lawyer Luiz Antônio Beck, who participated in the radio program, when he stated that Dino was “total hypocrisy” during the debate on the possibility of the minister’s brother, Nicolau Dino, being chosen for the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).
“Nothing against obese people, but he (Dino) is an obese person. And an obese communist is one thing. They could eat three or four families with what he eats daily”, said the commentator.
In the Wednesday (18) edition of the program, presenter Júlio Ribeiro apologized on behalf of Guaíba radio and its management for the comments made by the commentator.
“I want to apologize to the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, for the comment. The minister felt offended and we are here apologizing, not just to the minister and his family, but especially to our listeners”, said Ribeiro, emphasizing that, despite of the request, will not give up continuing to criticize the minister.
“The comment was not nice”, he acknowledged. Beck also apologized for the statement. “I hope he does an excellent job,” he said.
