On Thursday (29), the Federal Police arrested 33 people and seized 11 weapons during the second phase of Operation Day After. According to the corporation, the objective was “to comply with open arrest warrants issued against collectors, shooters and hunters (CAC’s), as well as possessors of firearms in general”.

The warrants were served in 16 states of the country, including Minas Gerais (6 prisons), São Paulo (4), Paraná (4), Maranhão (3) and Tocantins (3), for crimes such as terrorist acts, homicide, rape, theft, extortion and drug trafficking. Among the weapons seized are revolvers, pistols and shotguns.

According to the PF, civil arrest warrants were also served for non-payment of alimony.

“Since the existence of an arrest warrant violates the requirement of suitability for obtaining the possession of a firearm, measures are being adopted for the precautionary seizure of weapons and documents found, for a subsequent process of revocation of possession or registration of a firearm. , by the PF, in addition to communication to the Brazilian Army, for the cancellation of the authorizations granted to the Cac’s”, said the Federal Police in a note.

After the deadline for re-registering firearms, which ended on May 3, the PF has already arrested 147 CACs, firearm owners and security guards.
