Pelci athlete praises program after overcoming anxiety attacks through sport

Maria Vitória’s father, Marcelo Massulo highlighted the importance of sporting activities in improving his daughter’s mood
Manaus (AM) – Field football athlete from the Sports and Leisure Program in the Capital and Interior (Pelci), Maria Vitória, aged 11, was a very agitated child, with aspects of nervousness and anxiety, and now, she has had significant improvements through of sporting activity. It has been evolving at the core of the program at the Ismael Benigno stadium, Colina.
Three times a week, with one hour of training, the child athlete stands out for improving her laterality, motor coordination and focus on learning.
The athlete’s father, Marcelo Massulo, highlighted the importance of sporting activities in improving his daughter’s mood. “Before Pelci arrived, she was an anxious child, she didn’t sleep well, she had many social limitations. With football, her anxiety went away, today she is calmer, has patience, has improved a lot at home and at school. As a father, I am very happy with her development”, he commented.
Pelci’s football coach, Fábio Gomes, highlighted the benefits of sporting activity for youth. “Football is a gateway for children to have better social interaction, improving motor and cognitive coordination. Vitória was an athlete who was unable to develop social interaction, little by little she showed great results,” he said.
Today, the Amazonas Government program has more than 62 centers in Manaus, also including the Carlos Zamith and Oswaldo Frota football stadiums, promoting quality of life and combating a sedentary lifestyle in the lives of young people.
