An agenda defended by the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), the PEC (proposed amendment to the Constitution) that would establish mandates for ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) depends on the support of the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL ), to begin to be played by the senators.
In the opinion of parliamentarians close to Pacheco, this joint articulation is necessary so that the wear and tear on the Supreme Court does not fall solely on the Senate. One of the examples remembered is the PEC that limits individual decisions of STF ministers, approved in November by senators and which, since then, has not been discussed in the Chamber of Deputies.
Lira, in turn, asked party leaders to consult their benches on how to reinforce respect for parliamentary prerogatives, with a focus on police operations in deputies’ offices. This week, Pacheco said it was unreasonable to consider prohibiting precautionary measures “against any type of segment or any type of level of public authority.”
