The PDT announces this Thursday (26) support for the re-election of the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD), expanding the range of coalitions of the municipal manager, whose main ally is President Lula’s PT.
The announcement will be made at 5pm at the party headquarters, in Praça Tiradentes, and will take place after a meeting between the mayor and the licensed president of the PDT, minister Carlos Lupi (Social Security).
In 2020, the PDT launched delegate Martha Rocha as a candidate for Mayor of Rio — she finished in third place. In the second round, between Paes and former mayor Marcelo Crivella, the party remained neutral.
Paes has not yet decided who will be his vice-president. The PT wanted to put forward a name, but the mayor signaled his intention for a pure-blood ticket, with federal deputy Pedro Paulo (PSD-RJ) for the post.
