The PDT signaled its interest in seeing federal deputy Túlio Gadêlha (Rede-PE), who left the party at the end of 2021, return to its ranks, but the scenario is seen by members of the party as challenging given the possibility that this means the loss of the parliamentarian’s mandate.
Gadêlha left the PDT in December 2021 after differences with the party — he disagreed, for example, with the PDT support for João Campos (PSB)’s candidacy for Mayor of Recife in 2020.
The conversations between the deputy and the PDT take place amidst movements for the municipal elections. According to interlocutors, Gadêlha is considering running for mayor, but the PSOL-Rede federation should launch state deputy Dani Portela (PSOL) in the election.
If you migrate to the PDT, your name could enter the municipal race. Today, João Campos’ vice-president, Isabella de Roldão, is part of the party. However, the crisis in which the PDT is immersed in Ceará could cause changes in this equation. This is because senator Cid Gomes, brother of former presidential candidate Ciro Gomes, can leave the PDT for the PSB.
A break between the parties in Ceará could lead to a break in the capital of Pernambuco, a factor aggravated by pressure from the PT to nominate the current mayor’s deputy, which would remove the PDT from municipal management.
Gadêlha’s migration to the PDT faces an obstacle: the possibility of losing his parliamentary mandate. According to the rules of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), the hypotheses for justified disaffiliation are deviation from the party program, personal political discrimination and change in the so-called party window.
Gadêlha has faced internal problems in the Network — an ally of Minister Marina Silva (Environment), he is accused by allies of Heloísa Helena of acting in collusion with a treasurer removed by the party president.
