Operation was guaranteed after a technical meeting at Sema

Manaus (AM) – State deputy Joana Darc (UB) announced, on Monday (8), through social media, the return to operation of Castramóveis, a project aimed at free castration of dogs and cats in Amazonas, after a technical meeting at the Secretariat of State of the Environment (Sema). The meeting was attended by the secretary of Sema, Eduardo Taveira, and the executive secretary of Environmental Management at Sema, Fabrícia Arruda.

Joana Darc is the creator of the project, which has already castrated more than 17 thousand animals across Amazonas, from 2021 to 2023. Amazonas has 3 castrammobiles that work perfectly. For Joana, this is a victory that will benefit many animals and owners who need supportive castration.

“With the help of our mandate and as determined by Governor Wilson Lima, Castramóveis will return to serve animals in need of castration throughout the Amazon. We know that this is the only effective action to control the overpopulation of animals abandoned on the street, and that is why we will be returning soon”,

he stated.

During the meeting, the parliamentarian suggested that the first Public Veterinary Hospital, which has already completed its work and is awaiting a technical inspection, will serve as a place to provide consultations for two of the three Castramóveis units. One of the units will, as soon as possible, run around the city, serving the base’s most distinct neighborhoods.

The Mobile Castration Units are part of the State Welfare and Domestic Fauna Policy, implemented by the Government of Amazonas in 2021, through Sema, serving dogs and cats in the State. From the beginning until 2023, the project reached the mark of 17 thousand animals, passing through municipalities in the interior and neighborhoods of the capital.
