Paraná will maintain the state model of civic-military school – 07/12/2023 – Panel

Allied with Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the governor of Paraná, Ratinho Junior (PSD), decided to maintain his state program, which provides a model of civic-military schools and which has as a reference the federal model implemented during the former president’s administration. On Monday (10), the Lula government (PT) began the process of ending the federal program that keeps military personnel in schools.
The state network of Paraná currently has 12 schools linked to Pecim (National Program of Civic-Military Schools) and another 194 civic-military schools implemented through the state program.
With the decision of the PT administration, Paraná will maintain the state model in the 194 schools and also “work to migrate the 12 schools from the federal model to the state model”, according to a note from Seed (Secretary of State for Education) forwarded to the Panel this Wednesday (12).
The column found that the government of Paraná was not taken by surprise and that it had already expected the extinction of the federal program since Lula’s victory at the polls. The Ratinho Junior management understands, however, that the state model is well evaluated in the school community and there are no plans to retreat.
The law that instituted the state program, in 2020, is the subject of an ADI (Direct Action of Unconstitutionality) filed at the STF (Federal Supreme Court) by the PT, Psol and PCdoB.
