Amapá receives BRL 6.2 million from the Federal Government for school meals – News of Brazil

In the first half of 2023, the Amapá accumulated R$ 6.2 million in transfers from the Federal government for school lunches. The resources were transferred through the National Education Development Fund (FNDE) to ensure more quality in the menu of 194,457 students from 753 public schools.

Considering only direct transfers to city halls, the capital Macapá leads with the highest volume of funds received, R$ 2 million, which reached 102 schools and benefited 34,902 students. Following, appear Santana, which received BRL 621.1 thousand for 35 schools and 10,718 students, and the municipality of Laranjal do Jari, with BRL 393.9 thousand in investments for 26 schools and 6,750 students.

BRAZIL – In the first six months of the year, the Ministry of Education has already transferred a total of R$ 2.5 billion to the National School Feeding Program (PNAE). After six years without readjustment, the Federal Government increased, in March, the amount transferred to states and municipalities by the PNAE.

The Program is administered by the FNDE, an autarchy linked to the MEC. Throughout 2023, R$ 5.5 billion will be used to improve school meals for around 40 million public basic education students in approximately 150,000 schools in the country.

For secondary and elementary education, which represent more than 70% of students served by the program, the readjustment was 39%. For pre-school students and indigenous and quilombola schools, the increase reached 35%. For the other stages and modalities, the correction was 28%.

REGIONS – When divided by regions, the Southeast concentrates the largest number of schools, students and resources. There are 14.9 million students, in 44.7 thousand teaching units, who received a transfer of BRL 941 million in the first six months of 2023.

Next is the Northeast Region. There, 11.6 million students benefited from PNAE resources, in 50,000 schools, with a contribution of R$ 795 million. In the South, there are 5.4 million students benefited, in 21.2 thousand teaching units, with a transfer of R$ 326 million.

The North, in turn, accounts for 4.4 million students, in 20,300 schools, and an investment of R$ 252 million. Finally, there are 3 million students in the Midwest region, in 8,200 schools, including state and municipal ones, from R$ 193 million in resources.

CONSTRUCTION – Another MEC initiative in the first six months was the creation of the National Pact for the Resumption of Basic Education Works, to complete approximately 3,600 paralyzed or unfinished school infrastructure works across the country, according to the register updated by the FNDE.

FULL — The Federal Government also works on the Full Time Education Program. With R$ 4 billion in resources passed on to states and municipalities, the objective is to increase, in a first stage, the full-time offer in basic education schools throughout Brazil by 1 million enrollments. The goal is to reach, by 2026, 3.2 million enrollments.

LITERATE — Another strategic action in the field of education is the Compromisso Nacional Criança Alfabetizada, which already has the adherence of all states and 83% of municipalities. The Federal Government will invest around R$ 3.5 billion in the program over the next few years and the objective is to ensure that 100% of Brazilian children are literate by the end of the second year of elementary school, in addition to recovering the learning of students enrolled in the third, fourth and fifth years, whose performance was affected by the pandemic.
