Paraná Pesquisas publishes the 1st electoral survey for the Teresina city hall

The current mayor of Teresina, Dr. Pessoa (Republicans), would not advance to the second round of the 2024 municipal elections if they took place today, according to the first survey of voting intentions released by Instituto Paraná Pesquisas.

Voters in the capital of Piauí point out that the former mayor and candidate for state government in 2022, Silvio Mendes (União Brasil), would be elected in the first round or would run in a second round with a wide advantage over the second-placed, state deputy Fábio New (PT). Mendes lost the state race to PT Rafael Fonteles (PT) last year.

The survey also points to an 82.8% disapproval of the management of the current mayor of Teresina, with 76.9% of bad or terrible administration. Paraná Pesquisas heard 717 voters in the capital of Piauí between the 22nd and 25th of June.

Scenario 1, with the toucan Luciano Nunes:

• Silvio Mendes (União Brasil): 52.2%;
• Luciano Nunes (PSDB): 10.9%;
• Franzé Silva (PT): 8.2%;
• doctor Pessoa (Republicans): 8.1%;
• None/blank/null: 16.7%;
• Don’t know/did not answer: 3.9%.

Scenario 2, with PT member Fábio Novo:

• Silvio Mendes (União Brasil): 48%;
• Fábio Novo (PT): 17.6%;
• Luciano Nunes (PSDB): 8.5%;
• doctor Pessoa (Republicans): 7.7%;
• None/blank/null: 14.4%;
• Don’t know/did not answer: 3.9%.

Scenario 3, without former mayor Silvio Mendes:

• Bárbara do Firmino (PP): 36%;
• Luciano Nunes (PSDB): 16.5%;
• doctor Person (Republicans): 10%;
• Franzé Silva (PT): 8.9%;
• None/blank/null: 22.9%;
• Does not know/did not answer: 5.7%.

Methodology

Paraná Pesquisas interviewed 717 voters in the municipality of Teresina in person, between June 22 and 25, 2023. The margin of error is 3.7 percentage points, and the confidence interval is 95%. The survey is not registered with the TRE-PI (Regional Electoral Court of Piauí). Electoral law requires registration only for polls published in the election year.
