The Paraná Pesquisas institute released this Tuesday (18) the first electoral survey for the city of Macapá, capital of Amapá, with voting intentions for the 2024 municipal elections.

In the two scenarios determined, the current mayor Antônio Furlan (Podemos) would be re-elected in the first round with 66% of the votes ahead of both the current minister Waldez Góes (PDT), of Regional Development, and Josiel Alcolumbre (União Brasil), brother of Senator Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil), who lost in the same dispute in 2020.

The current mayor of Macapa has an approval rating of 81.4%, according to the institute. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) has a slightly tighter margin, with only 50.2% approval and 44% disapproval.

Paraná Pesquisas polled 711 voters in Macapá between July 13 and 16, 2023, and the margin of error is 3.7 percentage points. See below:

Scenario 1, with Josiel Alcolumbre:

  • Antônio Furlan (Podemos): 66.8%;
  • Josiel Alcolumbre (União Brasil): 8.7%;
  • Acácio Favacho (MDB): 2.7%;
  • Aline Gurgel (Republicans): 2.7%;
  • Paulo Lemos (Psol): 2%;
  • Otávio Fakhoury (PTB): 0.4%;
  • Does not know/did not answer: 6.9%;
  • None/blank/null: 9.8%.

Scenario 2, with Waldez Góes:

  • Antônio Furlan (Podemos): 66%;
  • Waldez Góes (PDT): 10.8%;
  • Acácio Favacho (MDB): 2.7%;
  • Aline Gurgel (Republicans): 2.4%;
  • Paulo Lemos (Psol): 1.8%;
  • Otávio Fakhoury (PTB): 0.3%;
  • Does not know/did not answer: 6.8%;
  • None/blank/null: 9.3%.

Methodology

Paraná Pesquisas interviewed 711 voters in the city of Macapá in person, between July 13 and 16, 2023. The margin of error is 3.7 percentage points, and the confidence interval is 95%. The survey is not registered with the TRE-AP (Regional Electoral Court of Amapá). Electoral law requires registration only for polls published in the election year.
