Paraná Pesquisas publishes 1st electoral survey for the mayor of Goiânia

The Instituto Paraná Pesquisas released this Wednesday (5) the first electoral survey for the city of Goiânia for the 2024 elections. In both scenarios, the current mayor Rogério Cruz (Republicans) would not even contest the second round of the election.

Cruz has municipal management disapproved of by 56.6% of Goianienses, with a poor evaluation of 32.7%.

The current mayor’s main opponent is Senator Vanderlan Cardoso (PSD), who has the preference of 25.8% of voters in one of the calculated scenarios. However, the parliamentarian would lose the municipal election to the former mayor of Aparecida de Goiânia, Gustavo Mendanha (Patriota), who ran for state government last year.

The two possible candidates of the PL for the mayoralty of Goiânia, Major Vitor Hugo and Gustavo Gayer, appear in the third and fourth positions in the voters’ preference in the two scenarios determined by the institute. Former President Jair Bolsonaro’s party plans to elect as many mayors as possible in 2024.

Paraná Pesquisas surveyed 761 voters in the municipality of Goiânia between June 29 and July 3, with a margin of error of 3.6 percentage points.

• Adriana Accorsi (PT): 18.9%;
• Major Vitor Hugo (PL): 12.6%;
• Rogério Cruz (Republicans): 7.9%;
• Alysson Lima (PSB): 4.6%;
• Ana Paula Rezende (MDB): 3.9%;
• Romário Policarpo (Patriota): 3.2%;
• None/blank/null: 18.3%;
• Don’t know/did not answer: 4.9%.

Scenario 2:

• Gustavo Mendanha (Patriot): 34%;
• Adriana Accorsi (PT): 16%;
• Vanderlan Cardoso (PSD): 16%;
• Gustavo Gayer (PL): 12.1%;
• Rogério Cruz (Republicans): 5.4%;
• Alysson Lima (PSB): 2%;
• Romário Policarpo (Patriota): 1.6%;
• None/blank/null: 9.6%;
• Does not know/did not answer: 3.3%.

Methodology

Paraná Pesquisas interviewed 761 voters in the municipality of Goiânia in person, between June 29 and July 3, 2023. The margin of error is 3.6 percentage points, and the confidence interval is 95%. The survey is not registered with the TRE-GO (Regional Electoral Court of Goiás). Electoral law requires registration only for polls published in the election year.
