Palmeiras: Fan wake is marked by emotion – 07/11/2023 – Daily life

The body of Palmeiras fan Gabriela Anelli Marchiano, 23, was laid to rest this Tuesday morning (11) at the Parque Paulista Memorial Cemetery, in Embu das Artes (Greater São Paulo). The young woman died after being hit by shrapnel from a bottle around Allianz Parque on Saturday (8), where a match against Flamengo was taking place. The farewell was marked by emotion and the presence of Mancha Verde.

Wearing a sweatshirt from the Palmeiras fans, the young woman’s father, Ettore Marchiano, said that the São Paulo team was an important part of Gabriela’s life since she was a little girl. “Her nightclub was Palmeiras. 23-year-old girls like other things, but she liked Palmeiras,” he said.

Marchiano remembers that he was always with his daughter during the games and claims that he never imagined that a tragedy like this could happen. “We went out to celebrate unity, both in defeats and in victories. We never thought about that”, he said, who considers that the violence that took his daughter’s life is happening on all sides. “Even those who are not fans seem to hate each other,” he said.

Returning to the stadium will not be the same, but he says he will remember his daughter whenever he is there. “We got there together and we left together. I’m going to continue what she wanted,” he said.

Gabriela’s mother, Dilcilene Prado Anelli dos Santos, said she also never imagined that gambling could take her daughter’s life. “I’m still going to cry a lot. I won’t have her smile every morning, but I will have it in the photos and memories. It’s not easy, it hurts a lot, but I’m sure she’s taking care of each one of us.”

In relation to security in the games, Gabriela’s mother says that the clubs must take measures.

“It was a mistake. You can’t bring in bottles. We leave the game and sit at a bar. You don’t have to throw a bottle. It could have happened to many people, as it happened to my daughter.”

She even made an appeal to the teams: “Palmeiras will not love Corinthians, but will love the next one. They are lives and we have to respect them”.

Bruno Tadeu Anelli Pansica, Gabriela’s uncle, says that this type of situation should not happen in stadiums. “You can’t say that these people are lovers and enjoy real football. They ended up interrupting the future of a beautiful girl, aged 23 and with a promising future, with many dreams”, he declares. He says that among his niece’s wishes were to live outside Brazil, follow Palmeiras in the United States and attend college.

“I want peace in the stadiums, that everyone supports their team. In the game, one loses”, says the uncle, who, in addition to changing the behavior of the fans, demands stricter measures, such as the interruption of games. “You need to have an attitude, and that way I think people will have an awareness.”

At the end of the wake, fireworks and flares were set off in honor of the fan.
