Fugitive from justice, Bolsonarist influencer Oswaldo Eustáquio published videos and photos advertising the conservative candidate for the Paraguayan presidency, Santiago Peña.
STF (Supreme Federal Court) Minister Alexandre de Moraes ordered his arrest in December last year for encouraging and participating in demonstrations calling for a military coup against the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). Since then, the PF (Federal Police) has been looking for him.
In a video published last week, the Bolsonarist says he has stayed in Mexico for a period and announces that he will remain in Paraguay until April 30 to help Santi Peña, as he is called, win the elections. “Today, Paraguay has become the main pro-life and pro-family country in America and the last wall between the world and communism”, he justifies.
Days later, he published a photo with the Paraguayan candidate, greeting him at the Colorado party.
The Bolsonarist journalist has been in Moraes’ sights since the first unfolding of inquiries to investigate attacks on STF ministers and anti-democratic threats. He was arrested in 2020, but was placed under house arrest by the minister.
In September 2021, due to his participation in the coup acts of September 7, Eustáquio was again the subject of an arrest warrant, later revoked.
The favorite candidate to win the next presidential election in Paraguay, on April 30, Santiago Peña, 44, is the new face of the right-wing Colorado party. He also has the blessing of former President Horacio Cartes, who, despite being targeted by US sanctions over corruption allegations, remains the most powerful man in the country, owner of banks and cigarette companies.
