only the technical sanction confronts racism

The worldwide commotion caused by the racist aggression suffered by Vinicius Junior by Valencia fans is natural. Any practice of intolerance, sexism, racism and homophobia, under any circumstances, is violent. But, in a crowded football stadium like the Mestalla, there is no way to measure this violence. It’s just that there are 40,000 people projecting the feeling of hatred against a defenseless being because of the color of his skin.
With the exception of the manifestation of the coaches Carlos Ancelotti (Real Madrid) and Xavi (Barcelona), none other moved me. Ancelotti, in particular, refused to talk about football to conclude: “There is a problem in stadiums in Spain: racism”.
Political demonstrations like that of President Lula and Spanish Vice President Yolanda Días are empty. Early on, because they are political and populist in background, they submit to the diplomatic interests between countries. Even more so because these attacks have a political background, since in Spain Vinicius’ black skin color and his talent are just pretexts for projecting an ideology specific to extremists.
Legal reactions like that of Real Madrid in denouncing the fact as a hate crime will be yet another process that the Spanish Justice will pile up, having as cause the same fact, which is the racist aggression against Vinicius.
There is only one way to face this violence: to blame the aggressor fans’ club for the loss of points. It can even be mitigated when there is an isolated case of a fan. But when there is a group demonstration, there is no other way to combat it than through technical censorship. In the case of Vinicius, if there was this punishment, Valencia would lose the points and be relegated to the second division. Never again would the Mestalla or any other stadium hear cries of hatred based on skin color.
The problem is that football is the same as politics: there are interests that override the fight against crimes of intolerance.
