Last Saturday (02), in the community of Igarapé do Lago, about 96 kilometers from the center of Santana, the final of the 2023 Interdistrict Championship took place. After the return of the competition, which had not been held for at least 10 years, Pirativa became champion by beating the Anauerapucu team in a balanced game.
Interdistrict 2023 is organized by Santana City Hall, through the Department of Sports and Leisure. The competition was attended by teams from Ilha de Santana, Alto Pirativa, Piaçacá, Anauerapucu and Igarapé do Lago, which hosted the tournament this year. The finalists played a match worthy of the big decisions.
With less than a minute into the game, Pirativa’s defender touched the ball with his hand inside the area, the referee noticed and awarded a penalty. From the kick, Mazagão opened the scoring. The game became tense and, in the first half, Pirativa’s attacker suffered a penalty. Dedé took the shot and equalized. The game continued in the second half under heavy rain, but the goal did not come. On penalties, better for Pirativa, who scored four times, while Anauerapucu only twice.
“We are very happy to be holding such an important competition that had been forgotten. This is a way for our Bala Rocha management to value all people and especially those in rural communities, who suffer from the absence of sporting events. Congratulations to all the participants and the champions”said Biraga Rocha, Secretary of Sports and Leisure of Santana.
The coach of the Pirativa team highlighted the importance of winning the title and emphasized the need to continue a competition like the Santanense Interdistrict. “We were very happy when we found out that the interdistrict would be held again. We live far away and getting here takes a lot of effort. Therefore, we greatly value this achievement and will take the opportunity to celebrate. We thank everyone in the organization and next year we will be ready again”he concluded.
The winners of Interdistrict 2023 received trophies, medals and a sum of money.
