The number of seats on international flights to Brazil will equal in January 2024 the number registered in the same month of 2020, the last before the pandemic, according to a survey carried out by Embratur.

The agency only took into account flights already scheduled and with tickets for sale and excluded charters or those that were not officially launched, but are in the airlines’ plans.

According to the survey, there will be 1.3 million seats in January 2024, a number 16% higher than that observed in January 2022 and the same level as January 2020. The agency’s forecast is that, in May of next year , the international air network remains 1.5% above the pre-pandemic period and is 27.4% higher compared to 2022.

The agency says it is working to attract new international flights. This week, it signed an agreement with ABR (Aeroportos do Brasil), which brings together private terminals across the country, to expand the strategy. Furthermore, it is formulating, in partnership with the Ministry of Ports and Airports, a policy to seek new flights.
