Lira condemns terrorist attacks against Israel during meeting in India

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira, from Progressistas, condemned this Saturday, at the end of the meeting of G20 parliamentarians in India, the attacks against Israel by the extremist group Hamas, which began last week.
In his speech at the ceremony that marked his inauguration as head of the group of parliamentarians known as P20, Arthur Lira (PP-AL) defended peace in the Middle East and reinforced that Brazil repudiates acts of violence and military aggression against civilians.
“Under these conditions, I could not fail to express my deep concern about the current conflict between Israel and Hamas. We condemn, in the strongest terms, the terrorist acts against the Israeli people,” stated Lira.
Arthur Lira also said that dialogue is the solution to controversies and called for joint work to find answers to issues that go beyond the borders between countries.
In addition to condemning the acts of violence, the president of the Chamber told the parliamentarians who make up the group that while he is at the head of the P20 he will encourage greater engagement of women in politics.
“Due to the growing and necessary participation of women in politics, the P20 also needs to encourage greater engagement by female leaders in their debates, as the Indian Parliament did when dedicating a specific session of this Summit to the topic of gender equality.”
The president of the Chamber also stated that he intends to work to strengthen the P20 as a Forum. effective dialogue and cooperation between parliaments
