The nomination of former Toucan state deputy Michele Caputo for a vacancy as a councilor in Itaipu consolidates the rapprochement between PT and PSDB in Paraná.
Former state secretary of Health, Caputo was unable to be re-elected last year. This week, he was the only “outsider” appointed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the board of the binational plant, alongside five government ministers. A counselor receives BRL 37,000, plus benefits.
Caputo had the support of the national president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, and the former mayor of Curitiba Luciano Ducci (PSB).
Last month, he participated in the launch of the Coalition in Defense of Paraná, a political front uniting left and center parties, led by the PT, against the current governor, Ratinho Jr. (PSD). The goal is to join forces in the 2024 and 2026 elections.
