An operation carried out by the Armed Forces, Ibama and the Federal Highway Police destroyed an aircraft on the ground and arrested two men on a clandestine runway for illegal mining in the Yanomami Indigenous Land, in Roraima. The information is from Brazil Agency.

The action took place on the night of Thursday (6), the same day that the airspace was once again closed in the region.

The space had initially been closed on February 1, shortly after the beginning of the humanitarian operation in favor of the Yanomami people. It ended up being reopened on the 12th of the same month, to allow the coordinated and spontaneous departure of prospectors who work illegally in the region.

According to the Brazilian Air Force, a Defense Identification Zone was established in the region in the airspace of Yanomami Land, with a ban on air traffic. The exceptions are military aircraft or those serving public bodies involved in the humanitarian aid operation.
