The senator and president of the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), scheduled the hearing of Flávio Dino, nominated by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for the Federal Supreme Court, for December 13th. (STF).
In a note, released on the senator’s social networks, the rapporteur at the CCJ will be senator Weverton Rocha (PDT-MA).
Current Minister of Justice and Public Security, Dino will go through the hearing and needs to be approved by the commission and the Senate Plenary to occupy the vacancy on the Supreme Court, opened with the compulsory retirement of Rosa Weber, who turned 75 at the beginning of the month.
Earlier, after President Lula forwarded to the Senate the nominations of Dino to the Supreme Court and the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, for the position of Attorney General of the Republic, the President of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), said that hearings and nomination votes should take place between December 12th and 15th.
On social media, Dino said he was “immensely” honored with the nomination. “I would like to thank you again for this proof of professional recognition and confidence in my dedication to our Nation. From now on I will dialogue in search of the honorable support of my fellow senators. I am grateful for the prayers and expressions of affection and solidarity,” he wrote.
Graduated in law from the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA), with a master’s degree from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Flávio Dino was a federal judge for 12 years, during which time he held positions such as the presidency of the Association of Federal Judges of Brazil (Ajufe) and the general secretariat of the National Council of Justice (CNJ).
