Nine automakers join the cheapest car program; see models and versions

The Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) released this Wednesday (14) the list of cars that will be sold at a discount in the program launched by the government last week. In all, there are 31 models from nine brands with a reduction of R$ 2,000 to R$ 8,000 in prices, which may reach higher prices at the discretion of automakers and dealerships – see the complete list below.

According to the MDIC, automakers Renault, Volkswagen, Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, Honda, GM, Fiat and Peugeot joined the government program, which initially requested the ceiling of resources allowed in this phase of the initiative, of R$ 10 million each. Six of them also requested an additional credit of over R$ 10 million, the total representing 30% of the R$ 500 million that can be used by companies as a tax credit.

The program has a budget of R$ 500 million in resources for granting tax credits, and will be paralyzed when this amount is reached.

Recently, the president of the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), Márcio de Lima Leite, said that the benefit should last “a month or a little longer, it is a short-term program”. According to him, the price reduction should encourage the sale of 100,000 to 110,000 passenger cars.

In addition to passenger cars, the acquisition of buses and trucks will also have discounts through the program:

Trucks: 10 automakers joined the program with a total volume of BRL 100 million, or 14% of the ceiling of BRL 700 million in tax credits for these vehicles: Volkswagen Truck, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Fiat Chrysler, Peugeot Citroen, Volvo, Ford, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans and Daf Caminhões;

Bus: nine automakers, with a total volume of BRL 90 million, or 30% of the available ceiling, which is BRL 300 million: Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Fiat Chrysler, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans, Comil, Ciferal, Marcopolo, Volare and Iveco.
