Nikolas Ferreira refutes involvement in alleged threats against Lula

After having his name associated with alleged threats against President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) spoke out on his social networks. “The year is ending, but they don’t get tired. It borders on unbelievable”, said Nikolas when commenting on the video of a report made by CNN Brazil about the case.

The threats against the president were allegedly made by internet users who commented on a post by congressman Nikolas about Lula’s choice of a private beach to spend New Year’s Eve. In your publication Nikolas shared a tweet from Estadão which said that Lula chose a private beach controlled by the Armed Forces with the following caption: “The father of the poor, popular and loved by the people”.

An unidentified internet user suggested that a fundraiser be raised to hire a mercenary to shoot Lula. The comments in this publication gained repercussion on Tuesday (26), after the executive secretary of the Ministry of Justice (MJ), Ricardo Cappelli, ordered the Federal Police (PF) to investigate the threat.

The CNN Brasil report, according to Nikolas, would have suggested that he could be investigated if any legal involvement in the case was found. Nikolas said that profiles linked to the left on social media insinuated that he had incited the threats with his comment.

When commenting on the repercussion of the case, deputy Nikolas said that the case is a narrative to involve him in a situation that has nothing to do with him. “The PF didn’t say it would investigate me, but rather the person who commented on a post of mine threatening Lula. Obviously: I am not responsible for any comments made by third parties on my networks. Anything beyond this is narrative and despair”, stated the deputy.

Nikolas further explained that the publication by the executive secretary of the Ministry of Justice does not mention his name, but a narrative would have been created after the repercussion of the case. “The attempt to generate narratives and damage against my name is embarrassing,” he reinforced.

The Union’s attorney general, Jorge Messias, took advantage of the situation to support censorship on social media. “As long as we do not have strict legislation that punishes platforms for the lenient way in which they have responded to complaints made, we will be forced to live with barbarity,” he wrote on Tuesday on the social network X, Twitter.

The deputy also commented that the mentions of his name and alleged attempts to hold him responsible for the comments on his publications are due to the fact that his profiles on social networks generate much greater engagement, with comments and likes, than President Lula’s profiles. “The more you hit, the more it grows”, concluded Nikolas Ferreira, referring to its growth and reach, especially among young people.
