“Historic. It is the largest healthcare access program in the world. Ninety-six million people will be assisted in the coming months and years by a doctor from Mais Médicos. And my Amapá will receive, a priori, 65 doctors through the program. We are very happy”, declared the deputy at the ceremony in which President Lula sanctioned the Mais Médicos program.
Despite being a newcomer to the Chamber, Dorinaldo received from the federal government the task of presiding over the mixed commission that guided the debates and shaped the text that was approved in the Chamber, in the Senate and that today was sanctioned by Lula. Malafaia participated in the device, at the Planalto Palace, alongside the Ministers of Institutional Articulation, Alexandre Padilha, and of Health, Nísia Trindade.
In his speech, President Lula recalled that until he was ten years old he had never seen a doctor and highlighted the scale and reach of the program.
“More Doctors basically means taking decent care to citizens by health professionals to the most distant places in this country. We know it’s not easy. It is not enough to have a doctor, he must be where the people are. This is the greatness of family doctors and health agents. This new version of Mais Médicos is here to stay and transform the standard of health in our country”, declared the president.
