After an intense agenda in Manaus, accompanied by councilors, Simão Peixoto announced improvements

Borba (AM) — The mayor of Borba, Simão Peixoto, participated this week in several meetings with representatives of state and federal bodies in search of definitions on demands in the areas of health, education, infrastructure, among others.

The head of the Municipal Executive and his delegation of councilors participated in a meeting at the Management Unit of the Education Development Acceleration Program in Amazonas (UGPadeam), whose general coordinator is Márcio Bentes.

Borba will be awarded one of the five schools in the forest, which will be built with resources from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), according to the Padeam 2 project.

The project foresees that these units will be installed in partnership with the State Secretariat for Education and School Sports (Seduc-AM) and the State Secretariat for the Environment (Sema/AM), in Sustainable Development Reserves (RDS), respecting the culture and indigenous language, in addition to preserving the environment.

Mayor Simão Peixoto suggested that the school be built in an indigenous area of ​​Borba, located on the Canumã River. The educational unit will have the capacity to serve around 300 students. The Sema/AM technical team will analyze the feasibility of construction in the suggested area.

Infrastructure

The mayor also participated in a meeting, on Thursday (11), with representatives of the company responsible for installing cabling to support the Luz para Todos program in rural communities. The wiring, which should be installed later this year, according to the company’s schedule, benefiting more than 4 thousand people in Borba.

Due to the closure of the port of Borba, the mayor also had an agenda at the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit). There, he received information that the repairs will be carried out and completed by the second half of May. Maintenance at the port will allow the embarkation and disembarkation of visitors who will participate in the festivities of Santo Antônio de Borba, the city’s patron saint, which begin on May 31st and continue until June 14th.

In addition to the agendas with positive feedback in Manaus, Simão Peixoto also remembers that the municipality is building another Social Assistance Reference Center (Cras), to serve a greater number of socially vulnerable families. The work will be carried out with resources from a parliamentary amendment by federal deputy Átila Lins.

Peixoto also highlighted that the municipality already has a budget reserve for the construction of the Women’s Hospital. The unit, in addition to taking care of their health, will also act as a maternity ward, being the first in the interior of Amazonas. The implementation represents a major advance in maternal and child health.

Councilors Jacimar Batista, Miguel Lima, Cláudio Pantoja Coutinho, Edilson Batista, Rodrigo Pantoja and Jeremias da Cruz, as well as community leader Zezinho Holanda, accompanied the mayor on his agendas in the capital.
