MST fair has act with cell with bolsonaristas – 05/13/2023 – Politics

The national fair of the MST (Movement of Landless Rural Workers), held in São Paulo, featured this Saturday (13) with a simulation of a cell with people dressed in green and yellow representing Bolsonaristas detained in the Papuda prison in Brasília.

The representation was part of an interactive theatrical presentation, which also included a shooting range, a printed ballot box, a mural with fake news, an altar made of tires with candles and a lectern with a microphone so that the public could speak.

The intervention lasted about two hours and was promoted by the theater group Trupe Olho da Rua, from the city of Santos (SP).

The group’s director, Caio Martinez Pacheco, 44, said that the act was thought to be the prologue to a play that is being staged, entitled “Democraceria”. According to him, the group was invited by the Culture Center of the MST.

“This prologue portrays the last four years of the federal government. It is a purge game, for people to play with these elements that traumatized the population”, said Pacheco.

Group member João Paulo Pires, 42 years old, said that “presenting this show inside the MST fair, with the participation of the public, after what we’ve been through in recent years, with a repressive government, was very significant”.

Early childhood teacher Marília Marques Nunes, 32, left Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo, to be at the MST fair, and was one of the people who interacted with the group of eight actors.

She participated in the representation of a shooting range whose weapons left people with red painted hands.

“It is interesting to be inside the presentation because we are not just receiving it. There is that adrenaline of being in the middle of the scene, it awakens more reflection on what is happening”, said the teacher.

At the beginning of the evening, the cultural program of the event had the singer Gaby Amarantos.

The 4th national fair of the MST, held in the Água Branca park (west zone of São Paulo), received a large public throughout Saturday.

The event’s food court, which featured typical food from all regions of Brazil, was overcrowded and queued, and many tents had their stocks sold out.
