The Federal Public Ministry requested the shelving of an investigation against Fabio Wajngarten, who headed the Social Communication Secretariat of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, after his company received public funds through business groups that had a contract with the federal government to era.

The request for archiving, made by Public Prosecutor Frederick Lustosa de Mello to the 10th Federal Criminal Court of the Federal District, is justified by the lack of evidence and the “lack of a suitable investigative line”.

The investigation investigated whether Wajngarten had allegedly committed crimes of administrative law and embezzlement.

The investigators concluded that there is no evidence of criminal conduct by the former head of Secom.

“Considering that the data collected were not sufficient to characterize the alleged crimes investigated, it is ineffective to continue with the case, as there are not enough elements of information to file a complaint or to take further additional steps”, said the prosecutor in his request for archiving .

In 2020, the Sheet showed that Wajngarten’s company received money from TV stations and advertising agencies hired by the secretariat itself, by ministries and state-owned companies belonging to the Bolsonaro government.

FW Comunicação e Marketing offered the market a service known as Competition Control. The former head of Secom had 95% of the company’s shares, and his mother, Clara Wajngarten, had another 5%, according to data from the Revenue and the São Paulo Commercial Board.

The company provided media studies for TVs and agencies, including maps of market advertisers. It also carried out so-called checking, that is, checking whether contracted advertising pieces were broadcast.

At the time, FW had contracts with at least five companies that receive money from the government, including Band and Record, whose shares in Secom’s advertising budget grew during the Bolsonaro administration.
