MPF asks for 2% quotas for ‘trans people’ in competitions and universities

This Wednesday (17), the Federal Attorney’s Office for Citizen’s Rights (PFDC), an agency of the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), issued a technical note in which it defends the adoption of quotas for “trans people” in public competitions and universities.

The document entitled “LGBTQIA+ Population: Protection of Rights” was sent to the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Labor, and to the National Association of Directors of Federal Educational Institutions (Andifes).

According to the MPF, the ideal would be to extend the federal government’s decision that announced 2% of vacancies for “trans people” in the next labor inspectorate competition.

“The document points out that the quota policy is a legal and legitimate tool to make the social and political participation of populations that have historically been made invisible and discriminated against viable, with the aim of ‘incorporating values ​​of these groups into society, which would otherwise be difficult to recognize. , given the conditions of marginality and prejudice’”, says an excerpt from the MPF statement.

Quota for “trans people” in tax auditor competition

Following a recommendation from the MPF, the federal government amended the notice for the Unified National Competition (CNU) to include the reservation of 2% quotas for “trans people” in the selection for the position of tax auditor.

The CNU notice already provided for 20% quotas for black people, 5% for people with disabilities and, in the case of Funai, 30% for indigenous people. In the recommendation, the MPF warned that the non-adoption of quotas for “trans people” would reveal a contradiction in relation to previous speeches by government authorities.

The adoption of quotas had already been promised by President Lula (PT) in June 2023. The measure was confirmed the following month by the Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho.
