Mother of deputy impeached by the TSE replaces him in office – 03/13/2024 – Panel

Former federal deputy Fernando Francischini, the first parliamentarian impeached by the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) for spreading fake news, left the government of Paraná, which had sheltered him for a year. In his place, his own mother, Tania Marcia Francischini, came in.

The decree dismissing Fernando Francischini from his commission position at the State Secretariat for Justice and Citizenship was signed by Governor Ratinho Junior (PSD) and published in the Official Gazette on January 2nd.

In another edition of the Diário, on January 9, Tania Maria was appointed to the same position – symbol CCE-4 –, in the same folder.

To the Panel, the secretariat stated that she “has experience in relations with the third sector and works in the formulation of public policies aimed at the area”.

“There is no obstacle to the appointment of the civil servant, who meets the necessary requirements for the role”, he stated in a statement. The former parliamentarian’s office did not answer calls.

Fernando is married to state deputy Flávia Francischini and is the father of federal deputy Felipe Francischini. The family controls União Brasil in Paraná, an acronym that was part of the broad alliance that re-elected Ratinho Junior in 2022.

Nationally, Fernando Francischini became known as the first parliamentarian impeached by the TSE, at the end of 2021, for spreading fake news.

In 2018, on election day, he went live saying that two ballot boxes were rigged and apparently did not accept votes for then-candidate Jair Bolsonaro, which was not true.

In that year, 2018, Francischini held the position of federal deputy, but was running for a seat in the Legislative Assembly of Paraná. He finished as the candidate with the most votes in the race in his state, with more than 400,000 votes.

During the Ratinho Junior administration, in January 2023, Francischini first gained a commissioned position as head of coordination in the structure of the newly created Secretariat of State for Women and Racial Equality.

Days later, with the negative repercussions of the appointment to the department, the state government transferred the same commissioned position to the structure of the Secretariat of Justice.
