The President of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Alexandre de Moraes, said this Wednesday (24) that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) chose Floriano de Azevedo Marques and André Ramos Tavares for the two vacancies open in the Court electoral. The Federal Supreme Court (STF) forwarded the fourfold list of nominees this afternoon to the president.

“The President of the Republic has already appointed the two judges to the Superior Electoral Court. He appointed Professor Floriano de Azevedo Marques Neto to the vacancy resulting from the end of the second term of former judge Sérgio Silveira Banhos. And he appointed Professor André Ramos Tavares to the vacancy of first term of Professor Carlos Bastide Horbach”, said Moraes at the end of the STF session.

“On behalf of the Electoral Justice, I would like to thank the President of the Republic for his speedy appointment so that we can continue to provide normal services in the Electoral Justice”, he added. In addition to Marques and Tavares, lawyers Edilene Lobo, linked to the PT in Minas Gerais; and Daniela Borges, informed Agência Brasil. The Electoral Court is composed of seven ministers, three from the STF, two from the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and two jurists.
