In the decision that determined the search and seizure of former President Jair Bolsonaro, Minister Alexandre de Moraes ordered the Federal Police to also collect his passport. “I determine the following measures: (1) the search and seizure of weapons, ammunition, computers, passports, tablets, cell phones and other electronic devices, as well as any other material related to the facts described herein”, says the decision.

Despite the order, the minister’s office informed the press, after the release of the decision, that Bolsonaro’s passport was not actually collected by the PF during the search and seizure of his home, nor will it be seized. The investigators understand that the document is not of interest to the investigation.

The seizure of the document was not requested by the PF and the search itself was contested by the Attorney General’s Office.

Moraes authorized the measure and also said that the PF could also search “contiguous addresses” to the places visited by the agents, in order to “verify the existence of any secret rooms or reserved rooms in any of the addresses investigated”.

He also said that the police could carry out the search in “motor vehicles eventually found at the address and in the garage lockers” and access files, messages and emails stored on computers, cell phones or hard drives. Any cash or high-value goods should also be seized.

Operation Venire investigates the insertion, in the Ministry of Health’s system, of false vaccination data against Covid for Bolsonaro and his daughter Laura. According to investigations, the information was entered by the former president’s assistant, Colonel Mauro Cid. For the PGR, there is no proof that Bolsonaro acquiesced with the act.

The former president denies fraud, says he always said he had never been vaccinated and that he did not need a vaccination card to travel to other countries, including the United States, where he left at the end of his term, because he had a diplomatic passport. .
