Moraes is silent about alleged meeting with Bolsonaro – 03/22/2024 – Power

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), did not want to comment on Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid’s statement that the magistrate had met with Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Moraes was questioned by Sheet to comment on the matter, this Friday (22), through the STF press office. He said he would not speak.

In an audio revealed by Veja magazine, Cid mentioned the alleged meeting without giving further details. He also stated that the Federal Police have a ready narrative in their investigations into the former president.

Bolsonaro’s former assistant also said he was under pressure in the statements and criticized Moraes, who approved his plea bargain.

The minister issued a new preventive arrest warrant against Cid this Friday. The measure occurred after the leak of the audios.

According to Moraes’ office, the soldier was arrested for “failure to comply with precautionary measures and obstruction of justice.”

He underwent a physical and criminal examination at the National Institute of Criminalistics of the Federal Police and was sent to the Army Police.

According to members of the PF, the lieutenant colonel violated the confidentiality agreement of the award-winning collaboration, which was considered a breach of a precautionary measure. He did this, according to investigators, to try to hinder the investigation, being suspected of obstruction of justice.

The Supreme Court also informed that the approval of the statement made by the military officer is under analysis, as the terms were not dealt with by the court, but by the investigators.

In the audios revealed by Veja, Cid states that the police just wanted to “confirm their narrative” and at all times implied that he could lose the benefits of the plea bargain depending on what he said.

The military officer also reportedly made harsh criticisms of Moraes. “Alexandre de Moraes is the law. He arrests, he releases, whenever he wants, as he wants. With Public Prosecutor’s Office, without Public Prosecutor’s Office, with accusation, without accusation”, he states.

And he continues: “Alexandre de Moraes already has his sentence ready, I think that’s the real truth. He already has his sentence ready. He’s just waiting for some time to pass. The moment he sees fit, he’ll denounce everyone , the PGR [procurador-geral da República] complies, accepts and he arrests everyone”.
