Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined this Wednesday (3) that former Minister of Justice Anderson Torres testify to the Federal Police (PF) until next Monday (8). Torres should be heard in a PF inquiry that investigates the use of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) to supervise the transit of voters, in the Northeast, on the day of the second round of the 2022 presidential elections, reported Agência Brasil.

The former minister was supposed to testify on the subject on April 24, but the hearing was suspended due to his health condition. By Moraes’ decision, Torres will be heard as a declarant, at the headquarters of the PF, in Brasília. He must have assured by the delegates the right to silence and the guarantee of non-self-incrimination when questioned during the deposition.

The hearing will be in person and the former minister will be escorted from a battalion of the Military Police of the Federal District, where he is being held, to the PF premises. Torres has been in prison since January 14 due to investigations arising from another process, which investigates the acts of January 8. The inquiry at the STF investigates alleged omission by him, who was the Secretary of Public Security of the DF, and by other authorities in containing the acts.
