The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes gave a period of 24 hours for the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) to comment on a request for suspension of the inauguration of eleven federal deputies on suspicion of participation in the acts of 8 January. The request for an opinion by the PGR is customary in the Court.

The action was presented to the STF by members of the group of lawyers Prerogativas, reported the newspaper O Globo. The elected deputies mentioned are André Fernandes (PL-CE), Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ), João Henrique Catan (PL-MS), Luiz Ovando (PP-MS), Marcos Pollon (PL-MS), Nikolas Ferreira (PL -MG), Rafael Tavares (PRTB-MS), Sargento Rodrigues (PL-MG), Silvia Waiãpi (PL-AP), Rodolfo Nogueira (PL-MS) and Walber Virgolino (PL-PB). The inauguration ceremony of the parliamentarians is scheduled for next Wednesday (1st).

In addition to the suspension of office, the group asked for the opening of a police inquiry to investigate the criminal responsibility of those elected. And they also requested that the Electoral Public Prosecutor’s Office be informed to analyze the possibility of a lawsuit against the deputies in the Electoral Justice.
