Michelle Bolsonaro adds the banner of inclusion, says former president of PL Mulher – 02/20/2023 – Panel

Michelle Bolsonaro’s predecessor in the presidency of PL Mulher, deputy Soraya Santos (PL-RJ) believes that the former first lady will help to add the banner of inclusion in the party instance.

“Women move for causes, not for power. They enter politics to defend those who need it, defend a flag, and Michelle adds in that sense”, she evaluates.

The deputy says that the former first lady, initially, engaged only in the rights of people with hearing impairment, but ended up becoming an important voice in the agenda of inclusion as a whole. “Nothing is fairer than that she, who was part of an entire national movement, of a very mature struggle, assume the presidency and continue this work”, she says.

Soraya says that the new incumbent will continue the work she started to train new leaders and train women in politics, so the party doesn’t end up launching female candidacies at the last minute just to fill the quota.

This work should start in April, to give results in the municipal elections of 2024.

For her, this is an effort that is part of a scenario that goes beyond the PL of the need for greater representation of women in politics. According to her report, by 2020 there were 1,900 municipalities without any female councilors; the following year, it was reduced to 900.

In the PL, in the last elections, the bench of federal deputies grew from five to 17. The goal, he says, is to elect at least one per unit of the federation in 2026.

Michelle started her activities as president of PL Mulher this Wednesday (15). She went to the party’s headquarters and met with the women’s representatives of the Chamber.
