The political articulation was created by federal deputy Filipe Barros (PL-PR), one of the former president’s main allies in Paraná, and had the approval of the national president of the PL, Valdemar da Costa Neto.

After the PL meeting with Beto Richa, the former federal deputy Paulo Martins (PL-PR) announced that he left his position as municipal president of the party and placed himself as a PL pre-candidate for mayor of Curitiba, in a statement on X (formerly Twitter). “Anyone who follows my work knows that I defend conservative values ​​since doing so didn’t give me votes or likes. The state representative Ricardo Arruda (PL-PR) had also launched his name as a pre-candidate in Curitiba and posted a video in which he declared that he was surprised by Richa’s presence at the party headquarters in Brasíla and held Filipe Barros responsible for the political imbroglio. “He exposed the president [Bolsonaro] and our party in an incomprehensible attitude”, he criticized.

O PL has not yet officially confirmed Richa’s affiliation, but the pre-candidacy would be part of the party’s strategy of launching its own candidacies in the country’s main capitals, which has been replicated by Filipe Barros in the state of Paraná.
