McDonald’s closes US offices and prepares layoffs – 03/04/2023 – Market

McDonald’s decided to temporarily close its offices in the United States this week, as it prepares to inform employees about a layoff plan that is part of a broader restructuring of the company, reported the Wall Street Journal on Sunday (2).

In an internal email last week to US employees and some workers in regions outside the country, the company recommended working remotely from Monday (3) to Wednesday (5) to make personnel decisions, according to the report, not making it clear how many employees will be laid off.

“During the week of April 3, we will communicate key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization,” the company said in the message seen by the newspaper.

McDonald’s also asked employees to cancel all in-person meetings with suppliers and other outside parties at its headquarters, the report added.

Sought by Reuters, the company did not respond until the publication of this text.

The fast food chain said in January it would review its staffing, which could lead to layoffs in some areas and expansion in others.
