The new report by the CNI (National Confederation of Industry) on the sector’s performance in February, to be released this Monday (3), does not present new advances capable of reversing the slowdown in the pace of activity registered in recent months.
The scenario is one of weakened demand with revenues on a moderate decline, as well as the use of installed capacity.
In the seasonally adjusted series, real revenues decreased by 0.1% compared to January, reaching five declines within six months. Compared to February 2022, growth of 1.4% still appears.
The use of installed capacity, on the other hand, had a decrease of 0.2 percentage points compared to January and 2.2 points compared to February 2022. It was the third consecutive monthly reduction, reiterating the gradual downward trend started in 2021.
Employment remains stable, according to the CNI, signaling a slowdown in growth after last year’s slowdown. However, average real earnings and real wage bills declined between January and February.
