Manaus (AM) – The holiday of September 7, 2022, the moment in which Brazil’s Independence completed 200 years, marked by demonstrations by right-wing groups incited by Jair Bolsonaro (PL), when he transformed the celebration date into a political platform, was inspiration for the creation of a new party, the Movimento Consciência Brasil (MCB).

Titled center-right, the acronym is in the process of approval for registration with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Among the flags defended, the charter of principles establishes Christian ideals, highlighting the Bible, and defends conservative agendas, such as the position against abortion and in defense of heteronormativity.

For political analyst Carlos Santiago, this political spectrum is related to the defense of democracy, freedom of expression, the liberal economy and less State intervention, being responsible only for regulating and supporting social policies. In addition to being in favor of the privatization of state-owned companies responsible for sectors such as energy, education, health and mining.

“The parties that operate in the center-right ideology have great leadership in the state and still have strong names to compete for majority positions. The political force of this spectrum has control of the state machinery, the State, the city hall of the capital and the interior of Amazonas, in addition to representing the majority of legislators in the municipal chambers and the state parliament. In recent decades, they have been winning elections for government and mayor,”

explained.

The national supervisor and state president of the MCB, Wagner Malafaia, highlighted that more than 450 thousand signatures have already been collected nationally for the party’s approval. The TSE stipulates the minimum support of the electorate, requiring the support, in nine states, of voters not affiliated with other parties and corresponding to at least 0.5% of the valid votes in the last general election for the Chamber of Deputies. In other words, according to Malafaia, 2,111 signatures are needed in Amazonas, but more than 3,800 have already been collected.

To be able to compete in this year’s elections for councilor and mayor, according to TSE resolution no. 23,571/2018 and law no. 9,096/1995, parties must be registered for at least six months before the election. With municipal elections scheduled for October, the party has until the first half of the year to be approved.

In its quest to obtain signatures, the party received the support of the mayor of Tefé, Nicson Marreira Lima (PTB), in a meeting held in June 2023. According to the party, the visit aimed to promote democracy and the commitment to establishing relations with the public Management.

“We are aligned with the board to launch a list of 42 candidates for councilors and one candidate for mayor. Let’s be the wild card! Since the other parties already have their candidates”,

said Malafaia.

Among the names of possible candidates for the party, Wagner Malafaia highlighted his own candidacy and also that of the MCB’s national youth president, Lucas Sá de Araújo, for the position of councilor.

Proposals

Christian in character, the proposals of the Brazilian Consciousness Movement (MCB) are aimed at combating hunger and food security in Brazil, investing in education and technological innovation.

“The party is made up of several Christian members and president. We are Patriots, our flag is a fair and prosperous Brazil!”,

highlighted Malafaia.

Despite affirming religious freedom, the party positions itself to protect the “Church of the Lord” and strengthen the family institution as structuring pillars of society. Furthermore, it highlights marriage between a man and a woman as the basis, making other forms of relationships and unions invisible.

The proposals are also related to the promotion of young people and women. In relation to youth, it emphasizes guidelines aimed at quality education, greater opportunities in the job market, social and cultural inclusion and also mental health care. Another point is environmental education, seeking to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices.

The party encourages female participation in politics so that they can be actively involved in the country’s decisions, so that there is the opportunity to build an inclusive and equitable environment. Solidarity is also encouraged within the proposals to encourage the participation of civil society and provide help to people in situations of hypervulnerability.

“The beloved homeland is our priority. We will fight tirelessly for the integrity of Brazil, defending its national sovereignty against internal and external threats”,

defended part of the proposals.

The defense of national sovereignty and the Brazilian people are highlighted points. The party proposes a commitment to strengthening an autonomous country and seeking equality, social justice and opportunities.
