Manaus (AM) – The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, participated, this Tuesday (12), alongside the heads of the municipal departments of Labor, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Semtepi), Radyr Jr; of Infrastructure (Seminf), Renato Junior; and Finance (Semef), Clécio Freire, from the EPIC program, in Boston (USA), which aims to present new models of innovation and technological development. The invitation to the conference came from the Boston Innovation Association and Sebrae Amazonas.
David Almeida stressed that the opportunity to participate in the program is unique, since the knowledge acquired can be introduced into the day-to-day activities of Manaus City Hall and the city’s development projects.
“Our management thinks of Manaus in a different way. We know the size and importance of the capital of Amazonas and we see great scope for development. Therefore, opportunities like this are important so that we can see up close some success stories around the world, with methodologies that can be applied in Manaus”,
emphasized Almeida.
Throughout the day, the Manaus delegation participated in other activities that included conversation with representatives from world-renowned universities, such as Harvard. For Radyr Jr, this experience is extremely valuable for Manaus to take a leap in development.
“These professionals are sharing good practices with us and answering any questions that arise. It is a consultancy that we are experiencing and mentored by business professionals who provide this change of vision of speed of what we are doing in the city of Manaus”,
explained.
According to the head of Seminf, Renato Junior, this agenda will have a positive impact on several sectors of the economy, such as tourism.
“It is an international mission that presents success stories in cities around the world, including to Brazilian mayors and invited institutions. Mayor David Almeida is always looking for knowledge and experiences added to the transformations in our city. This is just another agenda that aims to positively impact tourism, the economy and innovations in our city”, highlighted Renato.
