Manaus (AM) – Until Friday (4), students from Colégio Martha Falcão participate in a simulation of the work of the bodies that are part of the United Nations (UN). This is the eighth edition of the Martha Falcão Model United Nations Organization (Monumf). For three days, young people participate in diplomatic representations, bodies and entities linked to the UN to debate, negotiate, deliberate and form agreements on the issues in question.

This year, there will be three committees: that of the National Congress, with the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) on January 8, the date of the invasion of Brasília; the United Nations Security Council, which will address the Sudan Militia Coup; and the Historical Committee, which will discuss the Congress of Vienna (1814-1815).

The Monumf program will also have a communication committee, which will be in charge of covering the discussions, producing articles and even holding press conferences.

According to the coordinator of Primary and Secondary Education, Professor Francisca Loiola, the entire Monumf is organized by the students of Colégio Martha Falcão, who mobilized and decided on the topics to be discussed.

“The 8th and 9th grade students act as staff while the high school students make up the committees”,

explains.

She comments that the simulation is an opportunity for students to study and learn about the origin of conflicts.

“In addition to helping them to develop oratory, leadership, critical thinking, having a view of facts, learning to argue and working as a team”,

highlighted Professor Francisca.

Another highlight is the protocol in the clothing of Monumf participants. The female students changed their Martha Falcão College uniform and adopted a more formal look through the suits, while the boys all adhered to the suits, in both cases, impeccable, already looking like professionals working in the market.

The event will also feature the participation of Cristian Javier Vittor, UN representative. He serves on the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the International Civil Aviation Organization, which is a specialized agency of the United Nations created in 1944 by the Convention on International Civil Aviation to study the problems of international civil aviation and to promote regulations and standards unique to world aeronautics.
