In the month dedicated to honoring women and bringing awareness, New York hosts the ’68th Meeting of the Commission on the Status of Women in the World’. The event, organized by the United Nations Women’s Organization, was attended by the state secretary of women’s policies in Amapá, Adrianna Ramos, who spoke on the phone to the program ‘LuizMeloInterview(Daily FM 90.9).

On American soil since last Sunday, the 11th, Adrianna highlighted the importance of the event in her speech: “This commission has a fundamental role in promoting gender equality and empowering girls and women, which is also our main topic of debate in the Government of the State of Amapá, in our March of Struggle”he said.

Adrianna also pointed out that this month is one of the most important for women’s policies, from the secretariat in Amapá to the UN event: “It provides a direct link with what is discussed here at the United Nations throughout the month”celebrated the title of women.

“We have legislation, the Maria da Penha Law, which has already been declared by the UN to be the third best in the world for guaranteeing women’s rights. This meeting to discuss the status of women in the world, we will talk about women from Amapá, Brazil, the Amazon region, which is one of the highlights. Whenever we talk about the Amazon, the world turns its eyes to us, in a special way”pointed out the secretary.

Women from all over the world will discuss the good practices that are being done by countries to move us towards the UN’s sustainable development goals. “Everyone is important, but the most important thing is gender equality. We debated a lot, GEA worked a lot on developing activities and programs with everything we planned for women, from Oiapoque to Laranjal do Jari”concluded Adrianna Ramos.
