Márcio França appoints an ally to preside over the port of Santos – 04/11/2023 – Panel

Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França nominated Anderson Pomini, his trusted man and lawyer for his electoral campaigns, to preside over the port of Santos. The name still needs to be approved by the Civil House and the port’s board of directors before being made official.

Pomini was municipal secretary of Justice during the management of João Doria (at the time in the PSDB) in the São Paulo City Hall, between 2017 and 2018, and is close to PSB politicians, such as vice president Geraldo Alckmin and also França. He broke up with Doria in 2018.

At the beginning of the year, the two members of the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) government tried to sign his name as Advocate General of the Union, but the post went to Jorge Messias.

If he actually takes over the port of Santos, Pomini will address two priority issues for France: the construction of the tunnel between Santos and Guarujá and conversations about the privatization of the site and its activities with the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas ( Republicans).

In the second case, the minister’s understanding is that it is possible to grant port terminals, but not the port authority.
