Governor presented demands from the State to the president of Anatel and the director of Anac, in particular for the Parintins Festival
In Brasília (DF) this Tuesday (11), the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima, met with the president of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), Carlos Baigorri, to discuss internet connectivity in the region, especially in inland municipalities. He was also received by the director of the National Aviation Agency (Anac), Luiz Ricardo Nascimento, to discuss aviation safety in Amazonas.
At Anatel, Wilson Lima requested the expansion of the 5G internet service and discussed with Carlos Baigorri the elaboration of a project to connect more than 100 schools in Amazonas. More than 23,000 students from Amazonas, enrolled in the public network, take classes using the technology-mediated teaching model, receiving content produced and transmitted from Manaus by the Amazonas Education Media Center (Cemeam) of the State Department of Education and Sport.
The governor also asked for the installation of fiber optics in Tabatinga (1,108 kilometers from the capital), a municipality in the border area where internet connectivity and telephony are precarious. And he requested the improvement of both services in Parintins, especially during the Folklore Festival of Bumbás Caprichoso and Garantido. There was a commitment from Anatel to support logistics and infrastructure.
“We have great distances in Amazonas and connectivity helps reduce these distances. It is increasingly important that we improve the cell phone signal in the interior of the state of Amazonas, which is still a very serious problem that we face”, reinforced Wilson Lima.

At Anac, the governor discussed aviation safety in the state, especially in the city of Parintins (369 kilometers from Manaus) during the festival. The municipality’s airport has domestic commercial aviation operations, regular and non-scheduled, and domestic general aviation. For Wilson Lima, it is necessary to increase the offer of flights during the festival period, when the population in the city practically doubles, with a good part of the tourists traveling by air.
“Anac is a great partner along with Sindacta, the Air Force and all the agencies in terms of aviation so that we can carry out the operation during the week of the festival. Landing and takeoff operations increase significantly and there is a need to set up a structure specifically for this period of the party and ensure that aircraft can land and take off safely”, highlighted the governor.
