Federal Deputy Evair Vieira de Melo (PP-ES) presented this Tuesday (11) two calls for the Ministers of Justice, Flávio Dino, and of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, to provide clarification on the measures to be taken, in relation to land invasions by the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST).

The call comes after the coordinator of the MST, José Roberto Stédile, announced last Friday (7th) that the movement will carry out land invasions in all states of Brazil during the month of April.

In the request, the parliamentarian highlighted that, since the beginning of the Lula government, the MST has been “announcing the resumption of property invasions in 2023”. And he added that during the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro, “the MST reduced farm invasions to almost zero”.

Vieira also mentioned that “the acts of the MST and the like insult public order and legality, as well as in the last “Carnaval Vermelho”, and mentioned that the “violent operations have the only objective is to demoralize democratic institutions”.

The call for ministers was presented to the Agriculture Commission and also to the Inspection and Control Commission, all requests must be approved by the federal deputies who are part of the collegiate bodies.
