The technician had a contract until December 2025 and was also hired by Timão’s former management
Manaus (AM) – Mano Menezes is no longer coach of Corinthians. The club made the coach’s departure official this Monday (5), after the poor start at Paulistão 2024, with one victory in five games. On Sunday (5), in the Neo Química Arena, Timão lost 3-1 to Novorizontino. Timão started discussing the possibilities of replacements and already has a ‘plan A’ to take on the role. Coach Márcio Zanardi, from São Bernardo, is one of those being considered for the position.
Mano Menezes had a contract until December 2025 and was hired by Timão’s former management, when it was chaired by Duílio Monteiro Alves. The professional’s termination fine consists of the payment of equivalent wages until the end of the contract. The current black and white president, Augusto Melo, even hinted at the possibility of dismissal.
“No one is worried about a fine, we are worried about work. Mano is the coach of Corinthians until 2025, contract signed. I will be structuring him to have a better working condition. I have my responsibility as president. If he is asking for some pieces to be able to fit, my obligation is to work on it”,
said Augusto Melo, before last weekend’s match.
Mano Menezes completed his third spell at Corinthians. Hired in the final stretch of 2023, he had 20 matches, six wins, five draws and nine defeats, with a 38% success rate.
