Great result has the support of teachers, family members and the pedagogical team of the Municipal Department of Education (Semed)

Manaus (AM) – Manaus increased the literacy rate among students in the education network. A comparison, carried out by Integrated School Management (Gide), shows that in 2022, in the 1st year, 12,345 thousand students were literate; and in 2023, this total was 17,750, an increase of 3%, reaching 75.5% of students enrolled in the 1st year. In the last phase of literacy, which is the 3rd year, in 2022 there were 19,671 thousand literate students, and in 2023, 22,918, a percentage of 14.3% and more than 96% of students in the network literate.

The City Hall has increasingly intensified the teaching-learning process in the initial years, which corresponds to the 1st to 5th year of elementary school, and especially in the literacy phases, which are the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year. The same growth also occurred in the 2nd year, where in 2022, 18,891 students were literate; and 2023, this number rose to 22,792, with 93.7% of students literate.

This great result has the support of teachers, family members, the pedagogical team of the Municipal Department of Education (Semed), the enthusiasm of students and the projects developed by the municipal Education network, such as “Alfabetiza Manaus”, launched in 2022, with the objective of eradicating illiteracy in Manaus.

According to the Undersecretary of Educational Management, Júnior Mar, the management of Mayor David Almeida and the Secretary of Education, Professor Dulce Almeida, seeks a quality result.

“The result we achieved this year is a reflection of the learning we developed in the municipal network, which emphatically works on literacy. We have learning gaps that have arisen since the pandemic, with children who have difficulties in reading and writing and who need to improve, and the entire Semed team has been working towards this and the results are appearing, with this increase in literate students up to the 3rd year ”,

concluded the undersecretary.
