Manaus FC beats América and advances to the semi-finals of the Amazonense U-18

Manaus (AM) – Manaus Futebol Clube beat América de Manacapuru 2-0, in the quarter-finals of the Amazonense Under-18 Championship, and secured a place in the semi-finals of the competition. This was the fourth consecutive victory for Gavião Real, who maintained their 100% success rate in the State Championship in a game held at CT Barbosa Filho, this Thursday (23). Striker Joel and midfielder Miguel, both in the second half, scored the winning goals.

Scorer of the goal that closed the score for the emerald team, midfielder Miguel valued the victory and qualification for the semifinals.

“A very difficult match started, where we were able to open the scoring with a goal from Joel. Then, the guys came forward and, very efficiently, we managed to score the second goal. It’s going to be a very difficult semi-final. We will train during the week to try to reach the final”,

In the semi-final, Manaus FC will face Nacional in a game with a date and location still to be determined. While Crias do Gavião had the best campaign in group B in the first phase, the opposing team has the second best campaign in group A – there is no advantage from a draw in the semi-finals. Naça secured a place in the next phase by beating Sete FC 2-1, in the game following the Gavião clash.

The goals

Manaus FC only opened the scoring in the second half. First, Ronald took a corner kick and striker Joel rose higher than everyone else to score the first. Gavião’s Crias continued to improve and create opportunities. The one who scored the second was midfielder Miguel, from a penalty kick. Carlos Rafael stole the ball in the center of the field and headed towards the opponent’s goal, and was only stopped with a foul inside the area. The number 7 took the penalty and scored.

Responsible for the play that resulted in a penalty for the second goal, Carlos Rafael evaluated the team’s performance.

“Very difficult game, with a heavy field. Lots of rain in the city. We started the first half a little withdrawn, we weren’t able to create many plays like we had been working on. At halftime we talked to Professor Luan and we managed to have a good second half, where we managed to score both goals and come away with the victory”,

Regarding the semifinal, coach Luan Kennedy said that the team is prepared for any challenge. “We don’t have to choose an opponent. Regardless of who comes, our team is prepared psychologically and technically. We will certainly seek our result”, declared the Gavião Real commander.
