In this fourth edition, the exhibition welcomes other categories such as documentaries, animation and LGBTQI+

Manaus (AM) – Registration for feature films and short films in the genre of horror, fantasy and suspense is now open to participate in the Manaus Film Fantástico 2023 Exhibition. The registration period begins this Friday (22nd) and continues until October 13th, on the Portal da Cultura (www.cultura.am.gov.br).

The exhibition, which is in its fourth edition, is promoted by the State Government, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy, and will be held at Cineteatro Guarany, Avenida Sete de Setembro, Centro, from November 22nd to 25th.

In this edition, the initiative features the inclusion of other categories such as national and international documentaries, animation and LGBTQI+. The honoree is Amazonian filmmaker Z Leão, born in Anori (195 kilometers from Manaus), who began acting in cinema at the age of 15 in a German production, in the municipality of Barcelos.

“The initiative opens up space for local productions, from other states and even countries, encouraging exchanges between professionals, the exchange of knowledge, in addition to strengthening Amazonian cinema, which reserves great talents”,

says the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, Marcos Apolo Muniz.

For the exhibition coordinator, Márcio Nascimento, the initiative is a window for productions of this genre, providing opportunities for the market for Brazilian and international productions. According to him, last year there were 100 films registered, including “El ojo y el rua”, directed by Javier Del Cide, from Guatemala.

“The forecast for this year is that there will be many new developments within the fantastic universe, we have many documentaries that focus on the topic and that now have the opportunity to be shown within the exhibition, as well as an invitation to all other segments and genres”,

adds Mário.
