Inclusive show hits the stage at Teatro Amazonas

In reference to National Day for the Fight of People with Disabilities, the show brings together 78 people and is free

Teatro Amazonas, known for hosting great scenic shows, presents, on September 24th, at 7pm, the musical “Pindorama: An inclusive journey into the diversity of Brazilian folklore”, promoted by the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy. The program is free and open to all audiences.

Marked by representation, “Pindorama” involves the involvement of 78 people, including 25 people with disabilities. With the support of the Advisory for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities of the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy and the State Secretariat of Justice, Human Rights and Citizenship (Sejusc), the show is carried out by the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios Claudio Santoro, in conjunction with the Amazonas Guitar Orchestra (Ovam).

According to maestro Davi Nunes, director of the Liceu, the show is a musical journey through Brazil’s folklore diversity. Everyone who watches it will be able to see that there was care and concern for inclusion. People with disabilities (PwDs) can show their talents and artistic skills there, according to the maestro.

“In this proposal we work with Brazilian regions in a very simple way. However, it is very interesting, drawing the public’s attention so that they can get to know each region with its characteristics. It’s an engaging show, which brings new features every year,”

says the maestro.

Allusive to the National Day of People with Disabilities, celebrated on September 21st, the presentation seeks to highlight the theme and counts on the partnership of institutions such as the Association of Parents and Friends of Down, the Augusto Carneiro State School and the Centro de Tradições Gauchos (CTG). Furthermore, in this edition, the musical will feature guest artists, such as singer David Assayag, known for being the voice of the Amazon.

For the singer, being part of the musical is very representative. “It is a great pleasure to participate in this event focused on inclusion. Sometimes we feel very excluded from these movements, and this project is wonderful precisely because it gives visibility to disabled people”highlights David, who is visually impaired.

Opportunity for everyone

With the aim of encouraging the dreams of future PwD artists, in addition to those already involved in the cultural area, the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities advisor, Sheila Campos, highlights the representation of these artists in the project.

“We invite groups and people with disabilities linked to acting, music and dance, as well as those interested in joining the area. We are open to new artists who are interested in participating in the next editions of the show”,

says the advisor.

The young dancer Thiago Oliveira, who has a disability in his legs, had the opportunity to participate in the show, in the last edition, and fulfill his dream of dancing on the stage of Teatro Amazonas. At 19 years old, Thiago is a Dance student at the State University of Amazonas and will perform again this year.

“Since I was little, I had this dream of going to dance college. And after being invited to participate in the project, I also realized my dream of dancing in a big show and at Teatro Amazonas, it was a very beautiful experience and this year the public will see an even happier Thiago”, declares the dancer.
